Bookkeeping Leadership Role

This is an opportunity to lead a remote bookkeeping team, overseeing and managing financial record-keeping while maintaining strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an Australian background, with a proven track record of managing teams, including offshore staff.

A strong understanding of Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and other relevant software is required, as well as knowledge of Australian tax, payroll, superannuation, and compliance practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and delegate work across the remote bookkeeping team
  • Provide comprehensive training to remote team members
  • Review and approve tasks completed by remote team members
  • Offer mentorship and performance feedback
Work Allocation & Quality Control:
  • Ensure tasks meet Australian bookkeeping standards and deadlines
  • Adapt to practice management systems for task management
Reporting & Compliance:
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports and assist with reconciliations, BAS, payroll, superannuation, and tax filings
  • Create and follow working papers
  • Ensure compliance with Australian regulations and accounting standards
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience in an Australian background
  • Proven experience managing teams, ideally including offshore staff
  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and other relevant software
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax (BAS/IAS), payroll, superannuation, and compliance practices
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational ability, and communication skills
  • Degree in Accounting or relevant certification (CPA / BAS Agent / equivalent) preferred
