Invasive Species Threat Mitigation Expert

As a Pest Risk Assessment Specialist, you will play a crucial role in protecting Queensland's environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health, and way of life from invasive species.
The position involves working as part of a team to prepare evidence-based pest risk assessments that will be used to prioritize invasive and potentially invasive animal and plant species.
- Document procedures for conducting pest risk assessments and develop/refine decision-support tools to review and update lists of prohibited and restricted biosecurity matter.
- Promote awareness of the process used to select top-priority species for regulatory and operational responses.
- Maintain a library of scientific assessments supporting operational delivery and policy development.
- Contribute to the development of surveillance plans, eradication feasibility assessments, and species-specific control plans.
- Stay up-to-date with contemporary methods for managing invasive species to develop and revise procedures, policies, and practices.
Requirements include maintaining a criminal history check and ensuring applications remain current for 12 months.
