Community Fire Protection Specialist

As a Community Fire Protection Specialist, you will play a crucial role in protecting people, property and the environment in your local community. You will work from your local Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Fire Station and be responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties including community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents or chemical hazards.
You will collaborate with other emergency services such as NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Police to provide a comprehensive response to emergency incidents. Your ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential to achieving this goal.
In addition to responding to emergencies, you will also engage in community education on fire prevention and safety for school children, senior citizens and local businesses. This includes providing information and guidance on how to prevent fires and what to do in the event of an emergency.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be adaptable and reliable, and have availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work. They must also live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station to ensure prompt response to emergency incidents.
Essential Requirements
- Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P1)
- Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station
Benefits
You will be paid for attendance at incidents, training sessions, community safety and education activities. The base retainer is $78.28 per fortnight, plus $33.14 per hour for incident and drill attendance. Training is provided on an ongoing basis and covers all aspects of firefighting and rescue including basic life support, rope work, power tool use and community engagement skills.
