Health Specialist/Health Economist

The World Bank Group's Health, Nutrition, and Population unit operates across eight countries in the Pacific. The primary focus is on strengthening health systems, improving universal health coverage, and addressing future health risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead health and nutrition lending operations, including related technical assistance and capacity-building activities.
  • Lead high-quality analytical services focusing on health systems strengthening, human resources for health, and linking health to broader human development issues in the Pacific region.
  • Provide technical support for redesigning health systems to address integrated burdens of disease, especially non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
  • Coordinate with governments to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  • Participate in regional capacity-building activities to enhance knowledge-sharing.
  • Engage in policy dialogue with regional organizations, government counterparts, and key stakeholders across the Pacific and South East Asia to drive health sector reforms.

Selection Criteria:

  • A Master's degree in public health, economics, health policy, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Demonstrated track record in conducting complex analytics and translating findings into clear written outputs.
  • Experience working in Pacific Island Countries and/or prior work experience in the East Asia and Pacific region is desirable.
