Senior Chef Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Chef to join our team at one of our key aged care sites in Farrer, ACT.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to provide a fantastic meal experience to our residents and values a well-run kitchen without working weekends.

The ideal candidate will have dual responsibilities in food preparation/presentation and site management, with a focus on overall cost management and menu development/refinement.

Detailed Job Description:

  • Job Summary: To lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that all meals are prepared to a high standard and presented in a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Cooking and preparing meals for residents and staff
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen
  • Managing kitchen inventory and ordering supplies as required
  • Developing and implementing menus to meet the nutritional needs of residents
  • Leading and managing a team of cooks and kitchen assistants
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and best practices

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Experience: Previous experience in operating kitchens and/or site management
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, pride in personal appearance and hygiene
