Quality Assurance Inspector
A Quality Assurance Inspector is needed to support our Karratha Service Centre operations. This role involves monitoring work processes, performing inspections at key stages, maintaining records, and providing feedback to the workshop team and supervisors.
- Monitor and verify mechanical repair, rebuild, and refurbishment quality during workshop operations — including crushers, screens, gearboxes, slurry pumps, pulleys, and drives.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of mechanical work, ensuring all tolerances, specifications, and quality requirements are met.
- Conduct welding inspections in line with applicable standards and procedures — including visual inspection, dimensional checks, weld mapping, and review of welding records.
- Inspect surface preparation and protective coatings — including environmental monitoring, surface profile checks, DFT (dry film thickness) readings, and adhesion testing.
- Manage calibration and maintenance records for precision measuring, NDT, and inspection equipment.
- Complete and maintain ITPs or MDR's (Inspection & Test Plans, Manufacturer Data Reports), characteristic record sheets, weld and coatings inspection reports, and QA records in designated job files.
- Log non-conformances, defects, and feedback reports via the feedback portal and manage corrective actions through to closure.
- Liaise with third-party contractors for NDT, welding qualifications, and coating inspections when required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, OEM specifications, weld procedures, coatings data sheets, and job instructions.
- Provide clear and detailed inspection findings and quality feedback to Repairs Coordinators, Leading Hands, and the Engineering team.
- Monitor workshop compliance with quality standards, procedures, and customer specifications.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop QA/QC function.
The ideal candidate will have a proactive and detail-oriented approach to maintaining high standards. They should have strong experience in workshop-based mechanical, welding, and coatings quality control. A sound understanding of OEM mining equipment refurbishments is also essential.
