Procurement Strategic Purchaser

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Category Manager to support sourcing, purchasing, and supplier relationships within designated goods or services categories.

This key role involves improving contract and vendor management practices in collaboration with stakeholders. Your duties will include:

  • Category Strategy Development: Develop comprehensive category strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Supplier Management: Support the identification, evaluation, and onboarding of suppliers; negotiate contracts; and maintain relationships to ensure high-quality goods or services at competitive prices.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms and conditions.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and analyse category spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to optimise procurement costs.
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks related to suppliers, market volatility, regulatory compliance, and other factors that may impact category performance.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of procurement activities with overall business objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards throughout the procurement process.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to provide governance assurance and support Third-Party supplier engagement and performance management.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a Business-related discipline, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Prior experience within the Financial Services and/or Insurance sectors is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
  • Outstanding negotiation and contract management skills, supported by a history of achieving significant cost savings and fostering improved supplier relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of procurement best practices, market dynamics, and relevant regulatory requirements.
