Merchant Credit Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Merchant Credit Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our credit operations team, you will play a vital role in evaluating and processing merchant credit applications.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, risk evaluation experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional service to partners and stakeholders. You will be responsible for reviewing and assessing credit applications, making informed credit decisions, and ensuring compliance with lending policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and process merchant credit applications in accordance with lending policies and risk frameworks.
  • Analyse applicants' financial profiles to determine affordability and assess creditworthiness.
  • Conduct credit bureau and banking history checks to verify employment stability and credit conduct.
  • Make credit recommendations or approvals within a defined lending mandate.
  • Liaise directly with brokers, merchants, and internal teams to gather information and deliver timely decisions.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in credit assessment, credit risk, or underwriting.
  • Strong knowledge of income analysis, credit file interpretation, and affordability evaluation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and judgement when identifying potential risks.
  • Outstanding communication skills for dealing with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
