Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled legal professional to join our team as a Commercial Lawyer. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in providing commercial legal advice and will be responsible for undertaking the review of marketing material to ensure legal compliance.

The role involves providing corporate legal, commercial and governance advice to all businesses, contract drafting, review and negotiation, insurance product advice and documentation, statutory interpretation and advice on legislative reform impacting Avant's business, litigation support for corporate litigation, legal advice on complaints and potential disputes, including at AFCA, and staff legal training.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (LLB or equivalent).
  • A current practising certificate – mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years' post qualification experience in a mid or top-tier firm.
  • Private practice experience in providing commercial legal advice.
  • Previous experience working in an insurance and/or Australian financial services environment (beneficial).
  • A pragmatic and commercial focus (including understanding of the commercial environment of the general insurance market).
  • Highly developed stakeholder and people management skills.
  • High level of written and spoken language skills.
  • Understanding of the commercial environment of the general insurance market.
