Counsellor (Male) - Aboriginal Health Specialist

Piliyintinji-ki Stronger Families (PSF) is a community-based organisation that provides culturally appropriate services for men, women, and families. We are seeking a full-time Counsellor (Male Identified) to join our team in Tennant Creek.
The successful candidate will be responsible for addressing the social and emotional wellbeing needs of the community. This will involve providing support, counselling, and case management for individuals and their families, working in partnership with other family support services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive counselling services to Aboriginal individuals and families experiencing family violence and associated issues
- Liaising with other agencies for referrals and case management
- Assisting in facilitating activities and programs to enhance service delivery
- Identifying trends, gaps, and needs of the Aboriginal population in the Barkly Region to improve access and effectiveness of service delivery
We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of the past practices and current issues that impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver a strengths-based service incorporating narrative, cognitive, solution-focused, and community development approaches.
Essential qualifications include a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, or a related human services discipline, registration with an appropriate authorised practicing governance body in Australia, and a current Northern Territory Driver's License.
