Counsellor (Male) - Aboriginal Community Services

Piliyintinji-ki Stronger Families (PSF) is a community-based organisation that provides culturally appropriate services for men, women, and families. We are seeking a full-time Counsellor (Male Identified) to join our team in Tennant Creek.
The successful candidate will be responsible for addressing the social and emotional wellbeing needs of the community. This will involve providing support, counselling, and case management for individuals and their families, working in a team environment to facilitate the healing process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive counselling services to Aboriginal individuals and families experiencing family violence and associated issues
- Liaising with other agencies for referrals and case management
- Assisting in facilitating activities and programs to enhance service delivery
- Identifying trends, gaps, and needs of the Aboriginal population in the Barkly Region to improve access and effectiveness of service delivery
We are looking for a candidate with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to work in a culturally responsive and sensitive manner. The successful candidate will possess a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, or a related human services discipline, and be registered with an appropriate authorised practicing governance body in Australia.
Essential skills and experience include:
- A high level of counselling and case management skills
- An understanding and respect of the past practices and current issues that impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver a strengths-based service incorporating narrative, cognitive, solution-focused, and community development approaches to vulnerable individuals and families
