About the Role

Mater Group's Pathology Department has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Anatomical Pathology Scientist to join our team. This is a full-time permanent position.

Mater Pathology is a leading laboratory service that serves patients, doctors, and hospitals. We invest all profits back into patient care and are part of Mater Misericordiae Limited.

We are proud of our history and recognized for our expertise in highly complex pathology. Our dedicated staff, including specialist pathologists, scientists, technicians, laboratory assistants, and collection phlebotomists, work together to ensure accurate and timely results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for routine and complex testing within the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory.
  • Participate in the daily workflow of the rostered work area team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, expertise, and skill in the delivery of scientific services within the relevant speciality/s of Anatomical Pathology.
  • Knowledge of critical protocols and specific requirements of embedding, microtomy, primary and reflex staining protocols.
  • Participate in general Anatomic Pathology duties, including general maintenance, case assembly, and attendance at frozen sections.
  • Impart and learn scientific knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities and contributing to Laboratory meetings.
  • Actively participate in Histology discipline working cooperatively and communicating effectively within the team and with clients, both internal and external to the laboratory.
  • Participate in the quality control processes expected of Anatomic Pathology.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification with units in histology and/or anatomy (3 years minimum working experience).
