**Job Description**

The Power and Energy Systems Discipline is seeking a skilled leader to take on the role of Discipline Leader, Power and Energy Electrical Systems. This position offers an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team, leading research and development activities that support the Australian Defence Force (ADF) primarily on Naval platforms.

As Discipline Leader, you will be responsible for delivering innovative research outcomes and in-service support to the ADF. Your role will involve working closely with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement research programs that meet the needs of Defence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Discipline's work program to deliver research and development outcomes that meet Defence needs.
  • Develop research programs that align with Defence priorities and guide the achievement of outcomes.
  • Work with the Power and Energy Systems Group Leader to provide vision, guidance, direction, coordination, and collaboration to ensure the capability of the Discipline can be harnessed for delivery of agreed outputs to Defence.
  • Be responsible for the development and effective supervision of people in the Discipline and promoting a collaborative environment to ensure all staff contribute effectively to the output of the Discipline.
  • Contribute to engagement with and management of effective relationships with partners and stakeholders across Defence, industry, and academia.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

You will have a PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar postgraduate qualifications and/or relevant experience. You will also have significant leadership/managerial experience, excellent report writing/reviewing and interpersonal skills, and the ability to articulate a compelling Science and Technology (S&T) vision for your team and senior management.
