Power Plant Operator – Hybrid Power Systems | PWR

Are you ready to take your skills to the next level and work with one of Australia's most forward-thinking clean energy providers? Clean Energy Fuels Australia (CEFA) is seeking an experienced and motivated Power Plant Operator to join our dedicated operations team.

Location: Mount Magnet, WA

Roster:14 days on / 14 days off

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

As a Power Plant Operator, you'll be part of a passionate operations team, ensuring the safe and efficient running of generation assets that supply critical power to remote operations. You'll be monitoring hybrid energy systems, performing routine checks, responding to alarms, and supporting start-ups and shutdowns — all while contributing to Australia's renewable energy future.

What You'll Do

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot:
  • Solar PV systems
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Wind turbines
  • Jenbacher and Cummins gas engines

  • Cummins Diesel generators

  • Conduct inspections and respond to plant alarms

  • Assist in generator start-up, synchronization, and load management

  • Perform minor maintenance and escalate technical issues

  • Maintain accurate operational logs and participate in shift handovers

  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and safety compliance

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in power generation or energy operations

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in power generation or energy operations is required

  • Exposure to hybrid systems – solar, wind, BESS, and generators

  • Regular operational experience with hybrid systems including solar, wind, BESS, and generators is required

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

  • Relevant trade or Cert III qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Generation (preferred)

  • A safety-first mindset and ability to work independently

  • Valid C Class Driver's License (manual preferred)

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening

  • Understanding of environmental obligations and permit conditions for power generation in WA

  • Experience working in remote or regional WA locations (advantageous)

  • Strong work ethic and ability to operate safely in an isolated environment

  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., MEX) for logging maintenance activities and defects

  • Australian permanent residency or citizenship is required as visa sponsorship will not be provided
