Job Title: Defence Sector Configuration Expert

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Defence Sector Configuration Expert to support key Defence capability programmes in Brisbane or Canberra.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain configuration management processes and frameworks aligned with Defence policies and standards.
  • Manage configuration items across the programme lifecycle, ensuring traceability, status accounting and configuration audits.
  • Support engineering and programme teams in identifying, controlling and verifying system baselines and changes.
  • Maintain and enhance the configuration management database and associated registers.
  • Prepare and review configuration management documentation such as plans, change control records and baseline reports.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior configuration experts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engage and liaise with stakeholders, programme offices, contractors and other partners to ensure effective configuration governance.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Information Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Defence sector configuration management.
  • Strong knowledge of Defence standards, configuration management tools and change management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage configuration control boards, baseline reviews and audits.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work across disciplines and build stakeholder trust.
