Job Title: Heavy Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist to join our team at a large-scale open pit mine in Papua New Guinea.

  • Safety and Environmental Performance: Ensure all Safety and Environmental requirements are met with zero incidents.
  • Collaborative Working: Foster strong working relationships with operations management to drive production excellence.
  • Maintenance Team Support: Work closely with the maintenance team to achieve safety Key Performance Indicators and provide regular reports on compliance.
  • Regular Meetings: Review equipment performance, develop improvement plans, and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Coaching and Development: Provide technical guidance and coaching to maintenance personnel to promote continuous improvement.
  • Long-term Targets: Understand and deliver departmental long-term objectives.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify defects before failure and provide resources for planned and unplanned maintenance events.
  • Environmental Considerations: Perform tasks related to inspection and maintenance, ensuring environmental controls are in place.
  • Technical Support: Provide assistance to supervisors, ensuring they understand shift priorities and can direct their teams accordingly.

To be successful in this role, you must have a trade qualification in heavy diesel fitting and at least 7 years' experience on large-scale open pit mines. Experience working in developing countries and on Komatsu heavy mobile mining equipment is highly valued.
