Job Description

Maintenance officers play a critical role in ensuring the safety and welcome environment of our facilities. As part of our team, you will be responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks to the highest standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience in maintaining gardens and operating tools and equipment safely and effectively. You will also possess trade qualifications or relevant experience, as well as a valid driver's license.

We are looking for someone who is physically capable of operating a range of tools and equipment, has previous experience in a similar role, and is available to work on a regular on-call roster.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform garden maintenance tasks, including watering, aerating, feeding, fertilising, soil preparation, planting, trimming trees and shrubs, pest and weed control, weeding, and mulch maintenance.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively, including powered leaf blowers, edgers, mowers, whipper snippers, spray equipment, and pressurised water cleaners.
  • Monitor and report on the health of trees and plants.
  • Dispose of green waste safely and maintain and preserve tools and equipment.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks, equipment repairs, and ad-hoc maintenance as required.
  • Support clinical staff with the installation and operation of medical equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Trade qualification or relevant experience is essential.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work cohesively with teams is essential.
  • Compassionate and caring approach towards the ageing community is necessary.
  • Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and continuous quality improvement is required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respect for others is essential.
