
Youth Development Manager

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Manager to lead our team in providing coordinated care to vulnerable populations. The successful candidate will have experience leading a multi-disciplinary team and a deep understanding of youth development, trauma, and resilience.
The ideal candidate will be trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Brain Story Certification, and/or Mental Health First Aid. A valid, up-to-date, and clear Criminal Records Check, including vulnerable sector search, due to the sensitive nature of our work with youth is required.
This role requires a strong understanding of mental health issues, substance abuse, and crisis intervention. The candidate must also have compassion, empathy, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills. Experience working with and advocating for vulnerable populations is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead with integrity and excellence, ensuring staff adherence to policies and procedures.
- Schedule and facilitate team meetings to discuss issues and cases, promoting a collaborative and cohesive work environment.
- Cultivate a supportive, trauma-informed environment that promotes youth empowerment.
- Hire, train, promote, manage, and terminate staff and students, as required.
- Manage the activities and performance of staff, providing support, direction, mentoring, and recognition.
- Maintain proactive and responsive employee relations to achieve optimal employee satisfaction and performance.
- Liaise with other management on human resources, finance, and volunteer resources.
- Supervise and monitor the day-to-day activities in the space, ensuring safety and security policies and standards are adhered to.
- Promote a supportive environment that fosters youth leadership and development.
- Liaise with research teams and local research resources to further academic and community research relevant to serving youth.
- Guide staff in data collection and use reports to make appropriate updates to service operations.
- Remain current on evidence and best practices for serving young people.
- Develop overall programming that enables the organization to achieve its goals.
- Support staff to develop programming that builds youth resilience and prevents further occurrences of toxic stress and adversity.
- Liaise with management on fundraising and fund development.
- Respond to complaints and/or concerns through investigation, communication, preventative, and remedial actions.
- Participate in internal meetings as required.
- Maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the organization in a positive manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Social Services Administration, or a related field of study.
- Minimum three years' experience leading a multi-disciplinary team to offer coordinated or integrated care to vulnerable populations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to work effectively with others and lead others towards a shared goal is essential.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability is required.
