About Mine Ventilation Engineering

This critical role plays a key part in ensuring safe mine operations by designing and implementing ventilation systems. The position reports to the Manager of Technical Services and oversees the operational ventilation team.

The engineer will oversee Hazardous Atmosphere Risk Management, conduct regular inspections, monitor, and test underground workplaces to ensure adequate ventilation flows and atmospheric contaminants are kept as low as reasonably achievable. In addition, they will be responsible for controlling and monitoring all underground ventilation systems to meet industry standards and regulations.

In this vital role, you will:

  • Develop and implement plans for hazardous atmosphere risk management
  • Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of underground workplaces
  • Control and monitor all underground ventilation systems
  • Create and manage operational ventilation TARPs
  • Conduct environmental hygiene checks
  • Plan, direct, and document air quality surveys for temperature, gas, radon, dust, air flows, and other contaminants
  • Develop, maintain, coordinate, and issue ventilation, egress, and firing plans
  • Work with the Occupational Health & Safety team to develop and implement ventilation management plans
  • Implement corrective action plans in consultation with planning engineers and contractors

**Requirements:**

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent (Mechanical etc)
  • Extensive experience in Underground Mining, cave mining methods exposure highly regarded
  • Senior level experience in Underground Hard Rock Ventilation
  • Experience with real-time environmental monitoring systems and proactive approach to workplace health monitoring
  • Additonal experience managing Radiation exposure highly regarded
  • Demonstrated delivery of pragmatic ventilation solutions to support development and production mine plans
  • Advanced user of VentSim
  • Experience in Deswik or other CAD packages
