Electrical Technician Water Operations Job Summary

This exciting role offers a unique blend of technical expertise and community service, providing an opportunity to deliver high-quality water services to the public.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain complex electrical systems, including switchboards, motors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Support the Water Management and Treatment (WMAT) and Water Operations (WOP) teams in their daily operations.
  • Identify and resolve limitations or deterioration that affect system performance, ensuring optimal efficiency.
  • Maintain and update data within the planned maintenance system, including schedules, procedures, work history, and parts usage.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on the operation and maintenance of electrical assets, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Assist with installations and equipment upgrades, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
  • Support and maintain Telemetry, SCADA, and instrumentation systems, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
Requirements:
  • Educational background in electrical trade, accompanied by relevant certifications such as Contractor Licence and/or Qualified Supervisors Certificate (Electrician).
  • Proven experience as an electrician, preferably within the water industry or a related process-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and switchboards, large motors, variable speed drives (VSDs), high voltage systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, radio telemetry, and condition-based monitoring.
  • Safety-focused attitude, solution-oriented mindset, and ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting.
