About the Role

As an Aboriginal Youth Justice Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and empowering young people (12-18) involved in the justice system. Your expertise in trauma-informed case management and culturally safe practices will be instrumental in connecting youth with essential resources and community leaders for lasting impact.

This is a dedicated Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander position, and we require applicants to prove Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being an Aboriginal person, and acceptance within the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver case management, group programs, and outreach services to support and empower young people.
  • Ensure a supportive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth by implementing culturally safe approaches.
  • Connect youth with local services and help them build essential life skills.
  • Partner with NGOs, schools, and community groups to support each young person's journey.
Requirements:
  • You must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • You should have relevant tertiary qualifications and experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Your skills should include trauma-informed practice, advocacy, and youth engagement.
  • You must hold a NSW Working with Children Check, National Criminal History Check, and driver's license with comprehensive insurance or be willing to obtain it.
