Visionary Leader for Aboriginal Community Development

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) plays a pivotal role in empowering First Nations communities across the state by facilitating land rights, cultural preservation, and economic development. As a peak representative body, NSWALC oversees Local Aboriginal Land Councils, which are instrumental in reclaiming culturally significant land and ensuring First Nations peoples have a say in managing their ancestral lands.
About NSWALC
NWSALC focuses on protecting cultural heritage and creating economic opportunities through land management and enterprise development, reflecting a broader commitment to reconciliation and justice. This includes rectifying historical injustices while building a brighter future for First Nations communities through empowerment, education, social programs, and active participation in governance.
Chief Executive Officer Role
- The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader who shapes the culture of the organisation, delivering results through innovation, collaboration, and a focus on achieving outcomes.
- They will provide essential support to the elected Council and liaise with government entities to ensure that NSWALC operations align with the aspirations of First Nations communities.
- The Chief Executive will collaborate in decision-making and strategic planning to protect the interests of the Local Aboriginal Land Council Network and amplify community voices.
- They will oversee the Investment Management Fund to ensure NSWALC's financial stability and growth, empowering communities to thrive economically.
About the Position
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to make a meaningful impact on the lives of First Nations people. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience as a senior leader and demonstrate a highly developed understanding of the Aboriginal Land Rights system in NSW. They will also possess strong communication skills, enabling them to build and maintain relationships with government and other key stakeholders.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary, estimated to be around $180,000 - $220,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a range of benefits, including professional development opportunities and a dynamic work environment.
