Job Opportunity: Refractory Engineer

Boral Cement Limited is seeking a skilled Refractory Engineer to join our team in the Cement Division. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing major shutdowns and day-to-day refractory planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and estimate refractory-related applications, including bricks and castables
  • Manage budgets and conduct pre-planning activities, including coordinating contractors for shutdowns
  • Procure refractory parts according to delivery schedule requirements for major shutdowns
  • Material selection and design, establishing final refractory design using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) systems
  • Conduct thorough inspections of refractory systems, analyze failures, and identify areas in need of repair or replacement
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans to prolong the lifespan of refractory materials
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate the installation of new refractory systems, ensuring new installations and repairs are monitored and controlled
  • Analyze data and generate detailed reports on the performance and condition of refractory systems
Requirements:
  • Technical background and experience with refractory systems
  • Trade or engineering qualifications – mechanical/chemical/refractory/industrial
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD Mechanical skills
  • Industrial, power, petrochemical, steel, cement, lime, non-ferrous metals, glass, foundry, iron/steel making, chemical, or refinery background
