Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Officer to support our global operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services to meet our business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and analyze market information to inform procurement planning and sourcing decisions.
- Conduct sourcing activities in a timely manner, adhering to established business and project policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of goods and services.
- Develop an appreciation of the head contract to enable proper management of financial interests.
- Analyze and compare offers received, conducting negotiations with sub-contractors to achieve value for money and effective cost management.
- Close out commercial qualifications and prepare recommendations for award, obtaining approval within limits of authority.
- Liaise with the offshore team to ensure timely placement of purchase orders and resolve any invoice or payment issues.
- Identify, mitigate, and escalate procurement risks to enable the project to meet its obligations, minimize risk, and maximize opportunities for cost avoidance and reduction.
- Contribute to the development of procurement management plans, resolve issues, monitor supplier performance, and negotiate variations to enhance project outcomes.
- Ensure all records are methodically archived in line with procedures as the project progresses.
- Prepare and coordinate reports as required.
- Maintain registers of procurement, requisitions, approval registers, etc., for inclusion in reports.
- Manage site procurement operational expenditure to plan.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in sourcing and procurement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying, or equivalent.
- Understanding of best practice in procurement policy, processes, and legislation, and building knowledge of the business and supplier markets.
- Understanding of customer/client needs.
- Proven negotiating and lateral thinking skills.
- Financial management skills, with demonstrable behavior in reducing costs and meeting budgets.
- Contractual contract and claims awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer proficiency, with Microsoft Office, SAP, and Aconex an advantage.
