Procurement Officer Role
As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services for the Voith Group. Your tasks will include:
- Compiling and sourcing market information to inform procurement planning and sourcing decisions.
- Conducting sourcing activities in a timely manner and in accordance with the project program, established business and project policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Managing relationships and ways of working with key suppliers to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of goods/services that meet project requirements.
- Developing an appreciation of the head contract to enable proper management of the financial interests of the project.
- Analysing, comparing, and clarifying offers received and conducting negotiations with sub-contractors to achieve value for money/effective management of cost.
- Closing out commercial qualifications and preparing recommendations for award and obtaining approval per limits of authority.
- Liaising with the Offshore team to ensure timely placement of purchase orders and to resolve any invoice or payment issues raised by suppliers.
- Identifying, mitigating, and escalating procurement risks to enable the project to meet its obligations, minimise risk, and maximise opportunities for cost avoidance and/or cost reduction.
- Contributing to the development of procurement management plans, resolving issues, monitoring performance of suppliers, and negotiating variations through effective supplier relationships to enhance project outcomes.
- Ensuring that all records are methodically archived in line with procedures as the project progresses.
- Preparing and/or coordinating reports, as required.
- Maintaining registers of procurement, requisitions, approval registers, etc. for inclusion in reports.
- Managing site procurement operational expenditure to plan.
Your Profile
- At least 5 years of experience in sourcing/procurement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Engineering/Quantity Surveying or equivalent preferred.
- Understanding best practice in procurement policy, processes, and legislation and building knowledge of the business and supplier markets, given the rate of change in these areas.
- Understanding of customer/client needs.
- Proven negotiating and lateral thinking skills.
- Financial management – demonstrable behavior in reducing costs and meeting budgets.
- Contractual contract and claims awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer proficient, Microsoft Office, SAP, and Aconex an advantage.
