Placement Support Specialist

The role of Placement Support Specialist is a pivotal position within our organisation, where you will play a critical part in ensuring the stability and success of placements for children in need.

Working closely with foster carers, children, and support services, you will utilise your exceptional relationship-building skills to create a supportive environment that caters to each child's unique needs. Your commitment to delivering trauma-informed, person-centred care will be instrumental in fostering strong relationships and advocating for the wellbeing of the children in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with carers, children, and support services to ensure effective placement outcomes.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and carer needs, utilising observational and evaluation skills to inform placement decisions.
  • Collaborate with Child Safety Services, community agencies, and other stakeholders to establish and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Provide on-call support through a scheduled roster, ensuring 24/7 coverage for children in need.
  • Identify training and development needs for carers to ensure they are equipped to meet the complex needs of the children in their care.
Requirements:
  • Certificate IV level or higher in Community Services (Child Protection) with significant experience in a similar field.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption).
  • Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice).
