Job Title:

Alcohol and Other Drug Specialist


About the Role:

This position involves delivering individual and group support to minimize harm associated with alcohol and other substance use.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and provide evidence-based interventions to help individuals address harmful behaviors.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to develop essential skills and resilience necessary for managing challenges related to Alcohol and Other Drug use, while promoting recovery and positive life changes.
  • Support individuals in developing coping strategies and enhancing their overall well-being.

Requirements:
  • Certificate IV or higher in Alcohol and Other Drugs or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated experience in counseling utilizing a range of intervention techniques.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic approaches for supporting individuals with substance abuse issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and written skills.
  • Able to work effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Capacity to establish networks, work independently and in teams, and apply initiative with strong problem-solving skills.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and any relevant state-based checks.
