Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Technical Services Representative to join our dynamic team at AkzoNobel Yacht Coatings. As a key member of our Asia Pacific Yacht sales team, you will provide technical expertise, training, and support to internal stakeholders and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical support and training for the Asia Pacific sales team and customers.
  • Maintain the Coomera training centre and prepare/conduct training sessions.
  • Conduct product evaluations and participate in new product launches.
  • Assist the sales team, customers, and stakeholders in conducting paint defect analysis.
  • Process colour sample requests and support the warehouse in providing precise colour matches and large volume paint mixes.
  • Provide expert knowledge in complaint handling regarding products, performance, and application.
  • Conduct AWLMIX audits in-house and at relevant distributors.
  • Deliver periodical business reports/reviews and update CRM and Case Management systems with relevant information.
  • Conduct new product demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers on calls to key existing and potential customers.
  • Attend all relevant meetings and represent the Yacht business at boat shows and industry events.
  • Actively contribute to the development and upskilling of the team.
Requirements
  • Proven experience: A minimum 5 years of paint application experience in a marine, aerospace, automotive, or similar environment.
  • Technical expertise: A comprehensive knowledge of coating preparation, application techniques, paint defects, causes, and remedies.
  • Problem-solving: An analytical mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and the ability to conduct root cause analysis on application/paint/preparation-induced defects.
  • Communication savvy: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player: The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel ready: Willingness and flexibility to travel interstate and internationally on short notice for customer visits and industry events.
