This role involves setting the legal governance strategy for Australian and New Zealand businesses, providing commercially focused expert advice, and ensuring the company operates fully within the law and risk framework.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implementing company strategies and initiatives in a risk-aware manner.
  • Developing awareness of legal issues and their implications across the business.
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, interpreting, and advising on legal documents.
  • Advising on claims liability, legal rights, and obligations.
  • Anticipating and identifying legislative and compliance changes.
  • Developing effective legal strategies and practical solutions.
  • Ensuring local and global legal directives are implemented.
  • Managing insurance matters and external legal providers.
  • Planning and coordinating legal training.
  • Managing, mentoring, and monitoring the Legal Team.
  • Acting as Company Integrity Officer and Company Secretary.
  • Acting as Country Privacy Officer.

Your background:

  • Bachelor of Laws and Admission (or eligibility for Admission) to the Supreme Court of Queensland.
  • At least 8 years post-qualification experience in commercial law.
  • Strong commercial contracting skills with an understanding of AU/NZ commercial contracts and current market trends.
