Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Facilities Maintenance Officer to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our school facilities. Your primary focus will be on maintaining a high level of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency in all areas of the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a clean and safe learning and working environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, polishers, and blowers.
  • Sweep, mop, and clean floors.
  • Vacuum carpets, mats, and other floor surfaces.
  • Dust desks, tables, shelves, and ledges.
  • Collect litter, empty, and wash rubbish bins.
  • Remove graffiti from desks, chairs, and walls.
  • Clean windows, fans, fridges, stoves, toilets, sinks, and basins.
  • Sweep, blow, and hose paved areas.
  • Lock up rooms, including windows, and doors, and turn off lights.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card or eligibility to obtain same.
  • Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville as required.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the role safely.
  • Pre-employment medical assessment may be required.

About this Role:

This is a permanent part-time position, working 38 hours per week during school term. The successful candidate will be required to reside on Palm Island.
