We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing design concepts from scratch and sizing vehicle structures based on flight loads. They will also collaborate with peers from different systems to create balanced designs that meet mass, cost, and capability requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating detailed designs to implement structural concepts and generating CAD models in NX for components, assemblies, and vehicle integration
- Building finite element models to assess and analyze designs
- Applying first-order hand calculations and empirical formulas to rapidly iterate on designs
- Validating designs through development articles and testing individual joints and design elements for strength
- Performing structural testing on subassemblies and full sections of the airframe
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and have at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis. Competition team or internship experience is highly valued.
