About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Cement Australia as a Mechanical Shift Engineer, where you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our cement manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) initiatives, including communication sessions, tool box talks, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and analyze plant performance using lead and lag indicators, providing feedback through daily reports.
  • Respond to day-to-day plant requirements, including breakdowns and maintenance activities.
  • Follow up on shift handover feedback, providing solutions and mitigation actions for potential issues.
  • Contribute to the development of quality technical scopes of work and provide clear directives during breakdowns.
  • Manage breakdowns from start to finish, including recovery plan development and commissioning.
  • Provide detailed reports on plant breakdowns or issues, outlining next steps for repair or rectification.
  • Review work orders and provide clear direction to planners on required execution.
  • Manage and update mechanical asset life plans, task lists, and engineering support for capital projects.
  • Identify and manage plant mechanical risks, ensuring reliability and availability targets are met.
  • Develop and manage processes for identifying end-of-life assets.
  • Develop and review mechanical maintenance methods, Inspection and Test Plans, and report storage methods.
  • Assess and utilize condition monitoring principles to highlight failing equipment.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of asset management experience in a cement manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
  • 5+ years of maintenance management experience in a cement manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
  • A sound mechanical background, with proven experience in responding to breakdowns.
  • Leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • Strong report writing and presentation techniques.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and proficiency in SAP.
  • Ability to perform plant trouble shooting.
