Job Description:

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Grid Connection Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical aspects of modelling, analysis, and design of Power Converter Systems (inverter-based generation). You will provide expert technical advisory and engineering services for grid-connected and off-grid power generation systems, deliver high-quality technical reports and documentation, foster client relationships, and contribute to business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading technical aspects of modelling, analysis, and design of Power Converter Systems (inverter-based generation)
  • Providing expert technical advisory and engineering services for grid-connected and off-grid power generation systems
  • Delivering high-quality technical reports and documentation
  • Fostering client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives
  • Collaborating in cross-functional teams to provide technical due diligence support for transactions

You will work on projects focusing on steady state analysis, dynamic analysis, harmonic analysis, grid code compliance reviews, wide area power systems studies, protection coordination studies, RMS and EMT Modelling, and mathematical modelling and simulations of power plant controls.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with additional qualifications in power systems engineering highly regarded
  • Minimum 5-10 years industry experience
  • Experience working with distributed energy resources (especially wind, solar, and BESS) in the National Electricity Grid
  • Essential experience in developing models/modelling and reviewing outputs in PSS/E, PSCAD
  • Advantageous experience in DSA Tools, PowerFactory, Matlab, RTDS, Fortran, and/or manipulating these packages using programming languages such as Python
  • Knowledge of Australian grid codes is desirable
  • Familiarity with Australian and international safety and electrical rules, regulations, and standards
  • Strong understanding of power system studies including generator performance standard studies, transient stability, fault analysis, load flow, protection design, and an ability to assess power quality issues
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience in proposal development and strategic pursuits
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
