
Day-to-Day Accounting Processes Manager

The Bookkeeping Manager will oversee the day-to-day delivery engine for a team of bookkeeping and payroll experts, ensuring timely and accurate completion of workflows while safeguarding technical quality.
This role requires blending people and operational leadership with technology to disrupt professional services. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading teams that deliver day-to-day accounting processes and possess hands-on mastery of bookkeeping mechanics and payroll compliance.
Main Responsibilities- Workflow Management
- Manage allocation of workflows across Experts, balancing capacity, skill, and deadlines.
- Monitor daily workflows and ensure every step meets its Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Identify at-risk tasks early and re-allocate or escalate to keep work on track.
- Quality Ownership
- Owning the quality of all work produced by your Experts.
- Review key workflow milestones and track error rates.
- Technical Support & Escalations
- Act as first point of contact for Expert questions on bookkeeping, payroll, or platform nuances.
- Solve complex customer-facing technical issues and investigate significant errors.
- People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Bookkeepers and Payroll Experts.
- Build clear career pathways and foster a customer-centric mindset.
- Documentation & Process Governance
- E nsure Experts keep customer documentation current.
- Champion consistent process adherence and version control across the team.
- A minimum of 2 years of operational finance or public practice experience, leading teams delivering day-to-day accounting processes (AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll, month-end).
- Hands-on mastery of bookkeeping mechanics, payroll compliance, and controls that keep a back office running smoothly.
- BAS or Tax Agent qualification or close to obtaining these qualifications.
- Proficiency in cloud accounting software, including Xero, MYOB, and allied applications.
- Data-literate with a track record of tightening SLAs, automating manual steps, and standardising documentation and customer manuals.
