Inclusive Learning Solutions Specialist

As an Accessibility Adviser, you will be instrumental in providing individualised support to students with disability. This includes helping them thrive in their academic journey by utilizing assistive technology expertise to drive inclusive learning solutions and champion accessible education.
The successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency, preferably in Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or other appropriate degree. Substantial and extensive relevant or clinical experience closely related to working with people with a disability, mental health condition, or other chronic medical conditions in a range of settings is also essential.
The role requires knowledge of current equity and diversity issues particularly as they relate to students with disability in higher education in Australia and a working knowledge of guiding principles and legislation relating to disability. Demonstrated expertise in assistive technology, including the ability to assess student needs and provide advice and training on tools such as screen readers, speech-to-text software, accessible formats, and alternative input devices is crucial.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with staff and students to implement practical person-centred solutions that reduce barriers in a tertiary education setting. They must also be able to establish and review policy and procedures.
Occasional weekend work may be required during exam periods.
