Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our engineering team. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe operation of our equipment and attractions.

Your primary responsibility will be to perform routine safety checks, preventative maintenance, and overhauls of our equipment and attractions. You will also collaborate with other departments, including Marine Sciences, to create memorable experiences for our guests.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects, from routine maintenance to complex repairs. You will be working closely with our experienced engineers and technicians to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum Cert III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
  • Ability to work on any day, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • A reasonable level of fitness to enable the climbing of ladders and stairs

Others

Our shifts allow for family-friendly rosters, with team members able to be home every night. Shifts times range between 5:00 AM and 6:00 PM, rotating over 7 weeks.

Some examples of shifts include:

  • Day shift: 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM / 5:00 AM - 1:06 PM / 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Weekend shift: 3 days 5:20 AM - 6:00 PM and 4 days off

As a Mechanical Fitter, your daily tasks will include:

  • Undertaking pre-park opening safety checks
  • Responding to breakdowns on various equipment
  • Participating in various rebuilds and repairs of property
  • Maintaining marine animal life support systems and water quality infrastructure
  • Ensuring the safety of yourself and others by adherence to OHS procedures
  • Obtaining equipment licenses and training as required
  • Completing daily tasks as instructed by the Engineering Supervisor
  • Suggesting improvements in work procedures to increase safety and efficiency within the department
