Job Description:

The Education and Engagement Officer plays a critical role in connecting the library and its collection with ACT Schools and the wider community. This position requires extensive internal liaison with Libraries ACT services areas, as well as with other business units within Transport Canberra and City Services, other ACT Government Directorates, and external organisations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and Evaluate Curriculum Support Materials: Develop and review educational resources to support the library's collection and services.
  • Organize and Manage Public Events: Plan and execute annual events to attract visitors to the library, promoting its services and collections.
  • Assist the Public and Handle Officer in Charge Duties: Provide support to library patrons, including handling Officer in Charge duties when needed.
  • Contribute to Delivering Services and Programs: Collaborate with the management team to deliver services and programs that meet the needs of the community.
  • Train and Support Staff: Provide training and support to staff on branch operations, customer service, and safety procedures.
  • Implement and Communicate Branch Policies: Assist in implementing and communicating branch policies and procedures to staff and the community.
Requirements:
  • Professional/Technical Skills: A strong understanding of curriculum development for primary or secondary schools, as well as experience in managing budgets, contracts, and project plans.
  • Compliance Requirements/Qualifications: A Bachelor of Education (primary or secondary) and/or tertiary GLAM sector qualifications, with a Working with Vulnerable People Check.
