About the Role

As a key leader in our organization, you will be responsible for managing a team of highly skilled engineers who are focused on shaping Australia's energy future.

You will work closely with Network Service Providers (NSPs) and AEMO's operational and planning teams to provide high-quality service and advice.

The ideal candidate will be a trusted partner who can lead technical voices on emerging power system phenomena and help the NEM stay ahead of technical challenges by identifying risks ahead of time and enabling proactive solutions.

This role offers flexibility, allowing you to be based in various locations: Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, or Perth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead the Future System Studies team, including attracting, retaining, nurturing, and developing a high-performing team that demonstrates our values and has an inclusive and innovative culture.
  • External Partnerships: Manage external consultants where required, who will provide expert technical advice.
  • Enterprise Leadership: Contribute to enterprise leadership and stakeholder trust as a member of our Management team.
  • Strategic Planning: Support the development and implementation of Departmental, Divisional, and team initiatives in line with overall strategies.
  • Study Leadership: Lead future power system study elements of the Engineering Roadmap and Transition Plan for System Security.
  • Capability Development: Develop and maintain power system study capability, tools, models, and future state cases for technical investigations.
  • Tech Requirements: Lead the specification of technical requirements and capability from emerging technologies.
  • Planning Deliverables: Deliver a program of planning studies in collaboration with AEMO's System Security Planning team and Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs).
