Job Description:

Senior professionals with leadership experience in environmental science, management and/or auditing/compliance and regulation are sought to manage the Territory's environmental legislation.

The Department is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Territory's environmental laws through best practice regulatory principles.

As a Manager Environmental Regulation, you will lead a team of officers to effectively administer the NT's environmental legislation.

This involves assessing, approving and licensing activities that may potentially harm the environment, as well as undertaking compliance and enforcement action to ensure environmental safeguards are met.

You will be responsible for delivering priorities and enabling the team to regulate in line with the annual Compliance Plan and Compliance and Enforcement Framework.

Key skills and experience include proven leadership, significant experience in environmental science, management and/or auditing/compliance and regulation, and the ability to manage multiple projects, negotiate, problem-solve, work independently and mentor staff.

This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and industry partners to develop and implement effective environmental strategies.

You will also be responsible for providing expert advice on environmental matters and contributing to policy development and implementation.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
