Job Title: Environmental Governance Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned leader to join our team as an Environmental Governance Specialist. The successful candidate will lead a small team of environmental officers in administering the NT's environmental legislation.

The key focus of this role is to ensure that the Division's priorities are met by assessing, approving and licensing activities that may potentially harm the environment. This involves undertaking compliance and enforcement action to ensure environmental safeguards are met.

The Environmental Governance Specialist will be responsible for delivering the Division's priorities for their team, regulating in line with the Division's annual Compliance Plan and Compliance and Enforcement Framework, and providing guidance and feedback to officers.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Significant experience in environmental science, management and/or auditing/compliance and regulation
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to negotiate, problem-solve, work independently and mentor and develop staff
