We are seeking skilled Procurement Specialists to join our busy team on contract roles with the City of Sydney. These mid-to-senior level positions offer a dynamic and values-driven work environment where you can make a real impact on the community.

Job Description

The successful candidates will be responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure value for money across diverse projects, including high-value and community-beneficial projects. They will also ensure compliance with legislative requirements, State Government guidelines, and council policies and procedures for tendering and contract activities.

  • Coordinate procurement activities related to major events, libraries, and venue hire services.
  • Support the Category Manager for City Life and the Procurement Business Partner overseeing procurement for construction projects, City Access and Transport, Urban Design, and Architectural teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for these roles, applicants must possess:

  • A relevant degree or tertiary qualification.
  • Experience in a busy procurement team within a complex organization.
  • Resilience and ability to manage multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Enjoyment of multi-tasking and roles with variety, where no two days or projects are the same.
Benefits

The contract roles include all standard permanent employee benefits on a pro-rata basis, including annual and personal (sick) leave, one paid day off every four weeks, and three paid 'Care and Culture' days annually. Additional paid leave may be granted during the Christmas and New Year period.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist roles include:

  • Ensuring compliance with legislation and competitive practices.
  • Driving behavioral change and continuous improvement initiatives.
Role 1: Procurement Specialist - City Life (6 months)

This is an initial 6-month contract role, with potential for extension or permanency. It supports the Category Manager for City Life, focusing on procurement activities related to major events, libraries, and venue hire services. This position is a maternity leave cover.

Role 2: Procurement Specialist - Chief Operations Officer Division (12 months)

This 12-month contract role, with potential for extension or permanency, supports the Procurement Business Partner overseeing procurement for construction projects, City Access and Transport, Urban Design, and Architectural teams.

Essential Background

Applicants should have a strong background in procurement, with experience in a similar role. They should also be able to demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and excellent communication skills.

As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that procurement activities align with the organization's strategic objectives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
