Family Violence Practitioner Role Summary

This position plays a pivotal part in promoting the wellbeing of young people and their families by delivering high-quality initial assessments, enhancing collaboration across child protection and domestic/family violence support systems, and developing strong partnerships with government agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake thorough written risk assessments, focusing on referrals where family violence is the primary child safety factor.
  • Provide consultation and specialist recommendations to the Pathways Service team on referrals involving family violence.
  • Develop local, regional, and state-wide networks with government agencies to promote joint planning and improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
  • Promote skill development within the Pathways Service team to respond to referrals and undertake informed decision making when dealing with family violence.
  • Develop a community response to child safety and wellbeing matters by collaborating with community partners to identify service gaps and determine solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • National Police Check required.
  • Employment-related Screening Check required.
  • Ability to work outside regular hours may be required.
  • Interstate and intrastate travel may be necessary.
  • Must hold a current Australian-issued driver's license (equivalent to minimum class C).
  • Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination status prior to engagement with DHS.
