Child and Youth Worker/Practitioner (Part-Time) (w/ Relocation Assistance) at Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service.

Location: Cairns, Queensland (relocation assistance considered for the right candidate). Employment type: Part-time, 0.8 FTE. Salary: A$100,000.00–A$105,000.00 per year (pro rata) plus 12% super and salary packaging. Base pay range provided by CRDVS; final pay based on skills and experience.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Child and Youth Worker to provide therapeutic interventions and counselling to children and young people affected by family violence. You'll also support carers and collaborate with services to reduce the impact of violence in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver trauma-informed counselling and group work for children and young people
  • Support carers through advocacy and information sharing
  • Safety planning and crisis response
  • Coordinate with police and local services
  • Engage with communities and stakeholders to raise awareness
About You / What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or similar
  • Experience working therapeutically with children and young people
  • Commitment to feminist practice and systems-informed approaches
  • Ability to manage complexity with empathy and cultural sensitivity
  • Openness to supervision, reflection, and ongoing learning
  • Experience with play therapy, sand tray, or other trauma-informed modalities is highly regarded
Requirements
  • C Class driver's licence
  • Working With Children Card
  • Police check (or willingness to obtain)
