Job Overview

Mental Health Specialist Role

This dynamic position is part of a single entry point for new referrals into the Area Mental Health Service. As a clinician with strong phone-based triage experience, you will ensure safe and effective care pathways.

The role involves:

  1. Providing recovery-oriented mental health triage
  2. Conducting screening assessments across the lifespan
  3. Assessing and managing risk, allocating follow-up care in line with Victorian Mental Health Triage Response categories
  4. Directing referrals to the most appropriate team or external provider

About You

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Proven experience in mental health triage, clinical decision-making, and crisis assessment
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • A registered psychiatric nurse (RPN3) qualification
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel (fuel reimbursement within VIC)

Benefits

  • An hourly rate of $80.23 - $86.89 per hour + penalties + super
  • Fuel reimbursement within VIC
  • A 12-week contract with an ASAP start
