Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer

This is a permanent part-time position within the NSW Government, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people when dealing with health-related issues at The Sutherland Hospital (TSH).
Key Responsibilities:- Work effectively with hospital staff and other agencies in the community to provide support and assistance to persons and families receiving care at TSH.
- Develop and implement health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families.
- Collaborate with other services and health professionals to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Provide culturally sensitive and aware support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and work within a hospital setting.
- Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, including historical contexts which may influence Aboriginal health, and national and state policies/strategies relating to Aboriginal health.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities.
