Job Description

Westpac Group is seeking an experienced Credit Officer to join our Institutional Bank team. As a key member of the Energy and Infrastructure Credit team, you will be responsible for credit risk approval and management of a portfolio of Institutional Infrastructure and Utilities related clients.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage credit risks within the business, including early recognition of problem loans and implementation of remediation plans.
  • Support the Financial Markets and Product teams in the approval of credit risk arising from trading and structured products.
  • Contribute to the strategic positioning of Westpac Institutional Bank to ensure that credit strategies and policies are aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a sound credit culture within the business.
  • Work closely with the business to optimise risk utilisation and maximise returns to the bank within risk appetite.

About the Role

This role involves working with a broad range of industry participants spanning across several sectors of Energy and Infrastructure, including social and economic infrastructure, energy, regulated utilities, infrastructure funds, and natural resources.

Requirements

  • Highly experienced Institutional/Transactional Banking Credit Analysis/Risk professional with demonstrable experience and knowledge from the Energy, Industrials, and Resources sectors.
  • Key Credit analysis industry experience includes Energy, Infrastructure, Financial market transactions, and Natural Resources.
  • Superior communication skills, excellent negotiating and influencing skills, and a commercial mindset to balance risk and return objectives.
  • Previous delegated authority to approve credit risk within the infrastructure-related sectors, including project finance and acquisition finance products.
  • Tertiary qualifications, such as a business degree or postgraduate finance qualification.
