We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to join our team as a Welfare Rights Officer.

About the Role

This is an excellent chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable residents in Midlothian. As a Welfare Rights Officer, you will be responsible for providing specialist welfare rights services and representation at appeal level.

You will be part of a small, dedicated team delivering high-quality Welfare Rights services in Midlothian. Our ideal candidate will have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as up-to-date knowledge of DWP & Social Security Scotland benefits and their complexities.

In addition to your expertise, you will possess a degree-level qualification in Social Sciences, Law, or a relevant field, with previous experience in welfare rights activity and sound knowledge of accompanying legislation.

  • Previous experience in welfare rights activity.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of DWP & Social Security Scotland benefits and their complexities.
Benefits

This is a fixed-term post for one year. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and have the opportunity to develop their skills and experience.

Working Arrangements

The hours of work for this role are 18 per week, over 52 weeks per year. You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Based on these hours, the minimum actual salary for this position is £19,437 per annum.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children.
