Job Title

The role of a Senior People Advisor is to provide strategic support and guidance to the business unit on all HR, Employee Relations and Learning and Development matters.

This position will be based in our Melbourne office and will report directly to the Group People Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with local business leaders to develop and drive retention strategies, succession planning, reward/recognition, talent development and other HR initiatives as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and advice to management, leaders and employees on HR matters such as resolution of employee issues and grievances, performance and disciplinary issues, remuneration, learning and development, application and interpretation of policies/practices/legislation, and exits and terminations.
  • Assist with implementing strategic and operational industrial relations strategies under the guidance of the Group People Manager and Construction Manager.
  • Conduct workforce planning and resourcing planning in conjunction with the business unit senior leaders.
  • Support the local Learning and Development function including education, training requirements, leadership development and mentoring under the guidance of the Learning & Development Manager.
  • Advise and support management and employees in regard to legal and government regulations affecting HR functions.
  • Develop, review and implement HR policies, procedures, HR systems and practices which align with and support Company or local objectives under the guidance of the Group People Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • Operational Human Resources experience at an Advisor or Officer level, within a medium-large organisation.
  • Exposure to construction or similar industries is highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and decision making skills.
  • Proven ability to read, analyse and interpret complex documents.
