Job Description

A structural project engineer is responsible for performing detailed design engineering work for projects of moderate size and complexity. The incumbent must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of design engineering and capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis and detailed design of bridges and miscellaneous roadway structures, which conform with acceptable design standards, and meet the specific requirements of transportation authorities.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, sketches, and review drawings and BIM Models.
  • Manage multiple projects and assume responsibility for project execution within required timeframes.
  • Perform and assist in quality assurance and quality control of final design packages prior to issuing for construction.
  • Communicate with staff and clients to provide timely project updates on a consistent basis.
  • Provide written and verbal reports regarding multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

To be successful as a structural project engineer, you will need a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university or college and professional engineer (PE) license in the state where you are employed or ability to obtain it within six months. A minimum of six years' experience in structural engineering on transportation/roadway projects is also required.
