Job Summary

We are seeking an Indigenous Education Specialist to join our team at Amaroo Primary School (PS). As an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO), you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, teachers, the school, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of educational programs that address the educational and cultural needs of students.
  • Provide essential mentoring and pastoral care to students, particularly those at risk.
  • Act as a liaison between the community and the school, working to create an education program that addresses both the educational and cultural needs of students.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.
Requirements
  • A strong connection to Aboriginal culture and the ability to build positive relationships with families and the local community.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, community members, and professional staff.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in a variety of settings and with different audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently to achieve the best outcomes for students and their families.
